⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from Tea Talks
First of all, I must admit I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did, my poetry preferences lying firmly in the camp of the Larkin, Dylan Thomas and Wendy Cope styles (and even a little Pam Ayers!). I often find romantic poetry over eggs the emotion, leaving it seem trite. This was a different kettle of fish entirely! The collection tells the story of a developing love between a man and a woman, both in relationships with other people. The collection is well constructed with the emotion developing from initial euphoria and desire, through to confusion and frustration. It’s very cleverly done with a simple prose which gives it a charm and honesty that is difficult to ignore. My favourite was ” I am Your Refuge”. … It would make for wonderful wedding vows!
