#BookReview: Destroyed by LA Starkey

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this for a while, having really enjoyed the first book in the series (Deceived) a couple of months ago. The action picks up straight on from the end of Deceived, with Samantha trying to figure out which of the two brothers to chose. This time, however, there are more pieces in play as the Greek gods start to increase their interest and new characters, such as Eros, are introduced. Now I studied classics in school and have a reasonable knowledge of Greek mythology, I’ve even walked up Mount Olympus, so I appreciate that the fairly radical interpretation and retelling of these rich stories won’t be for everyone. The Iliad it isn’t, but what it is is a brilliant piece of young adult fiction that will have you wanting more. The characters are sharp, engaging and interesting, and LA Starkey has the kind of relaxed yet snappy style I like. IMG_0624.JPG
